We belong to Nattukkottai Chettiyar community. Hence, we need to spend a lot of money for a girl’s wedding. My husband is working in a private company. It was time that our daughter got married. Our daughter was 23 years old then. We were rather worried, but consoled ourselves with the firm belief that Amma will take care of everything.
Our relatives began to ask us several questions, regarding our daughter’s wedding. Besides, they began to make fun of us. We had only one answer. We told them that, we would do everything according to our Amma’s advice. We were ready to wait patiently.
For two years, we didn’t receive permission from Amma. Amma would say, “Carry kanji pot during Adi Pooram! Participate in Navaratri Laksharchana! Wear Sakthimalai and carry Irumudi to the Temple with the whole family! Come to the Temple during Chitra Pournami!” In this way, two years passed. During the last Paada Poojai, Amma told me to start preparations for our daughter’s marriage. By Amma’s blessings, the engagement took place on 5th November, 2003.
When we got the invitation card printed, we went to see Amma. I requested Amma to attend my daughter’s wedding. Amma said to me, “You may go! Take care of everything! See in what form I shall appear!” Saying this, Amma blessed us. On the previous day of the wedding, it was time to bring the bride from the Pillaiyar Kovil (Temple of Lord Ganesha). It was night. An aged person with a beard appeared there, wearing red dress. All of us looked at him with wonder! At that night, there was no one other than our relatives, at the Temple. Hence, I felt certain that this aged person must be our Amma. My mind was telling me repeatedly that it was Amma. Seeing Him, everyone said that, Om Sakthi Herself has come to the wedding to bless the couple! We were very happy to hear that.
During Paada Pooja, Amma would often say, “Be patient! Be patient! I shall help you conduct the wedding in such a way that all your relatives will be amazed.” By Amma’s blessings, the marriage went off in a grand manner.
Every morning and evening, my daughter used to write Moola Manthiram in a notebook. She had written the Moola Manthiram for the 3,477th time, when we got Amma’s permission to start the preparations for her wedding! As she had been writing the Moola Manthiram, our financial problems were solved and we could conduct the wedding without any difficulty. There is a song, “Be it a man or a woman, they are manifestations of God. Happiness and sorrow occur in life, because of Him!” Whenever I hear this song, I remember Amma. By Her blessings only, we are living a happy life.
